So I hooked my camper up to my truck today, weighs around 6k lbs.
When I got on the freeway, the truck was at 194 ect and 194 eot, on ramp is uphill for a mile or two, accelerated to 70 mph in tow haul mode, keeping egts at 1250 and less.
Top of the hill, 220 ect, and 223 eot. Spreads seem good, truck cooled to 204 ect and 215 eot before the next hill (high spread caused by the ect cooling quicker than the eot I'm sure) then at 1250 egt climbing the next hill, 220 ect and 223 eot again, once again dropping after cresting the hill.
Checked for coolant puking, none at all. I recently replaced the degas cap due to the old one testing bad, holding no pressure at all.
Coolant is zerex g05 which was new within 10k miles. Mix is proper 50/50
I just recently cleaned the cooling stack with no rinse evap coil cleaner.
I couldnt tell when the cooling fan ramps up, the exhaust on my truck is fairly loud, but I have heard it ramp up at 210 before in city driving.
Sounds like great numbers. For peace of mind, I just did the 'Blue wire upgrade' to be able to engage the fan on demand when I know that there's a climb ahead. Hope to get a jump start on lowering temps uphill.
