Excessive Heat

2013 F250 6.7 stock 131k

Needing some advice.

A couple of days ago, my truck started smoking from the exhaust pipe area. It's not blowing smoke out the tail pipe, there is smoke coming from between the exhaust pipe and the heat shield. The entire under-carriage was super hot and the engine compartment was hot as well(could just be the heat coming up from the under side). This was after a 15 minute drive to town, 30 minute stop and 15 minute drive back. No indications on any gauge, no check engine light and no loss of power.

A couple of days before this, I made a 2.5 hour trip to the coast pulling my boat and returned with no issues. I do this pull maybe once a month. Other then that, it is just used for daily driving with no long idles.

Took it out for test drive last night with no issues but I did notice the coolant in the upper bottle(driver's side) is really low.

From my searches on the web, I am thinking the EGR cooler might be clogged but I would love to have more opinions before I tackle that job.

Hey, I know this was along time ago but did you ever resolve this? I’m having the exact same issue with my 21 6.7
