Brake Hose Search
Hi all,
I am trying to track down a brake hose for my truck.
It is a '66 F100, and I need the front Hydraulic hose.
It has later disc brakes on the front. From a 70's F100 I believe.
I ordered the '73 F100 brake hose from my local auto parts store, but it is shorter than the one I am replacing, and the female end is a bigger size.
Was it common to swap out the hose for a 'non-truck' one when doing the disc brake swap.
It seems like the standard 70's truck hose isn't long enough for the job on the '66.
Any ideas what it might be from?
Thanks,
Dean

1973 was the first year that F100 2WD's were available with front disc brakes.
But, the thing is...if you don't know what the disc brakes were swapped from, how will we know? It could be a "Heinz 57" swap with an aftermarket disc brake kit mixed with factory parts.

The reason they are short is the bracket on the frame changed. The fittings are different, as well. That caliper in your picture doesn't look correct, either. The hose should have a banjo type fitting with a through bolt. The steel lines on my 66 are behind the front crossmember instead of in front of it.

Thanks for the info.
The 73 hose I bought turns out to be from a 'car' Torino etc. but was listed incorrectly on their site.
I am trying to work out what year the calipers are, so I can source the correct hoses and fittings through them.
Can anyone help me decode the castings on the caliper?
My frame bracket was also behind the cross member originally, but when I got the truck, those hoses ran straight through the middle of the springs, so I relocated the bracket and just assumed whoever did the brake swap had been lazy.
With the right banjo fittings, maybe it would have all been ok!
Thanks again,
Dean

So assuming I swap over to these hoses, can anyone point me at the correct through bolts, and tube nuts to match? Over here all of our brake fittings have different flare types, so I will need to import the correct connections, but they never seem to be listed alongside the hoses on the parts store websites!
Thanks in advance,
Dean

Here is a picture of my 1979 single piston sliding caliper with the hose. Also a link to NPD's catalog for that bolt to attach the hose. https://www.npdlink.com/search/produ...ent=50000&year=

I neglected to put a link to a place to get fittings I'm pretty sure these folks also have an E-bay store. https://www.inlinetube.com/

They are 3/16 tube fittings. Here you go. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-16-OEM-Zi...0AAOSwS7Na0SGB
You will also need a double flare tool to flare the tubing with. There are a bunch of different tools some work and some don't. For small jobs the ones that only do one size tubing seem to work the best.
