This is perfect I found something similar ..and I already disassembled the thermostat housing to replace the thermostat(about which I also have some questions for clarity purposes) ...as well as inspected, cleaned out and replaced the CDR valve. diggin down to the waterpump and nearly there))
mine is the first one on the diagrams from left to right, my set up on this beast is the left image)
[QUOTE=lonewolf_;18692678]just a little Note here......
there are RH and LH thread Fan Clutch Nuts.... the way I have always been able to tell is that IF the Pump drive Pulley is Smooth then the Clutch is RH thread and IF the Pulley is Grooves then it is LH thread. 'Course the 84 has 'V' belts not Serpentine
in the industry generally Nuts that are LH thread have Nicks cut in them like the image....... RH thread nuts do not have this cut
thats an awesome bit of knowledge. good to know thank you
I used to Hate Serpentine belts myself, but they seem to work just fine and I have had less trouble with them slipping, I have an 86 Subaru GL-10 and the 'V' belts on the AC are a constant source of PIA and cussing, but I always carry a spare in my '93 F-250 because places like NAPA, O'Really, and the Zone never have the right size, they look up the the one called for on my truck and it is always too small, and that is with Gates Belts, they generally list 2 Belts and neither one fits....... I'm to the point that I think the '93 is a Bastid Child
and Hopefully the slots in the brackets in the Diagram may help you a bit as you figure out what to loosen, you don't have to take the accessories off, just loosen them so they move, then you may need a Pry Bar or a 1/2" Breaker bar to tighten them back up... look for 1/2" square holes in Brackets .. I don't know If you have any but this is a common way to tighten and hold a bracket while you tighten the bolts.
BTW in the diagram it looks like the Power steering Pump may have the 1/2" square hole
OK now that you have managed to get the Fan out of the way.... I suggest that you loosen the Alternator and other Accessories like Vacuum Pump and Idler pulleys or whatever it takes... here is a Diagram of the belts that I have but I cannot 100% say it matches what you have but it might help.. I'm sure there are others here that are more familiar with the Vans than I.
so I can't get the last belt off (from left diagram: the one off of the AC I loosened up at least 4 bolts and it slid down a bit but not enough to get it off..
...what am I missing here??

yep they sure do ..both of em ..the problem is the tool I have with that size 1/2 square is too short and bulky so I attempted to do it all by hand

That is just for holding the brackets tight while you are tightening the bolts when adjusting the belt tension .. a 1/2" Ratchet is better than nothing, it's hard to pull the accessories tight enough by hand ... this is for after you have replaced the pump
One can always put a piece of pipe on the short tool for more leverage if needed
Maybe someone else can explain it better than me as my People skills Suck, I spent my life as an EFE and ME basically working by myself
Thank you everyone for the knowledge and instructions ..so far so good... had trouble a bit with the fan cluch from lack of better tools.. excellent note that its a LH thread on my beauty... now I got everything off up to the freaking belts! )) How the hell do I get them off ...only the one small one is off from the alternator..
SNIP
The other belts will come off in the same fashion as the alternator did. You just need to find the magic 2 or 3 bolts to loosen. Look for the adjustment slot first. The bolt in the adjustment slot must be loosened. Then there will be at least one more bolt on which the accessory pivots, which also will need to be loosened. You don't have to remove the bolts, just loosen them. Once you loosen those bolts, you can pivot the accessory away from the belt, leaving enough slack to slip the belt off.
You may not find an exact video of your setup. But watch videos of changing accessory belts on similar vehicles to grasp the concepts.

your explanations are clear to me ...im just not familliar with most parts lingo if you will ...nothing that I cant look up if unclear) you've been very helpful I appreciate that cuz I never had to do anything with any car and of this scale ...my first time ...stuck out here for the last 4 days tryin to get it done. will be done by tomorrow nite if I can figure out how to get that last belt loose))) its almost there.. just dark and raining hard
The ac does have more than one slider bolt, possibly even two on the back iirc.
The steering has the long pivot bolt and then a shorter one that's almost behind the pulley on the left side.
I just use the straighter end of a crowbar and find somewhere to wedge it and get leverage.
Great thanx for the confirmation cuz its already dark and raining hard and I couldn't verify in the dark.. but I should be able to get em off tomorrow morning.

Thank you ..I got most of em loose ..having a battle with the AC unit/accessory.. its got two visible bolts one being a slider ..Im being told there might be 2 more on the back of it so I'll complete it at first light its too dark and wet for now))
