My first diesel, too. In town, I drive with the windows down so I can hear it better. Far from quiet at start up, mild diesel chatter on surface streets and shockingly quiet cruising at 70 on the freeway. Sounds great moving my 12K fifth wheel from a stand still.
I got another one for you, this morning I went out to the truck, hit the on button but not to start it. I could hear what sounded like the fuel pump running. What ever it was kept running, I turned it off and on 2 more times and it would just keep running with the key on engine off. This doesn't seem right and I never noticed it before.

Were the cooled seats turned on? Mine make a bit of noise.
I will say that the powerstroke is the quietest and smoothest diesel compared to the Cummins and Duramax that I had. And also the better the quality of the fuel the quieter they run.

I've never owned any others but compared to riding around town in my friends 15 Ram and another friends 15 powerstroke, my 19 seems louder and seems to have more sounds. On the freeway is another story, the engine noise can be almost non existent.
The only fuel I've used is from the Shell stations, no clue on quality of it.
Mine makes a weird noise as well. It’s 15mph into my community and when I’m going slow like that and let off the throttle it makes like a buzzing or fast ticking sound up by the motor. If I even slightly give it throttle it stops and when I let off it does it again. Lasts for about 5-10 seconds. When I come to a stop it stops doing it. Anyone else? Is that a normal thing?

I would say that might describe one of the sounds I hear too under the same conditions, although I notice it on deceleration even at higher speeds, 35, 40.
I think it went into regen tonight and got even noisier, tappy and even the shifting felt off. The misc. engine noises along with interior plastic creaking/cracking are going to make me have to always have the stereo playing.
Well, I think it's time to stop listening to things. With all the tech on these trucks, and all the pieces and parts required to reduce emissions and make things meet government requirements, there are going to be ticks and clicks and hums and thumps. Drive the thing.. Enjoy it. Whenever you think you hear something, turn up the radio. Enjoy it. Stop trying to figure this stuff out. You're going to worry yourself into a tizzy.

Lol, I hear you. It's mostly just learning what's normal and what should be looked at under warranty. Like this key on engine off sound coming from under the truck, if it's normal for this truck great, but if it's not I want to get on the schedule at the dealer.
I think I read on these forums somewhere, the first three gears are limited to keep you from spinning the wheels off the truck if you stomp on it.
First 3 gears in the SRW, first gear only in the DRW. I could use some torque management in 2nd with my F450. Even on dry straight roads, it'll leave 4 long tracks if you get on it in 2nd.
Perfectly normal. If you tow anything, especially tow anything heavy, be sure and let it warm up good before towing. Otherwise, enjoy it.
Oh, and don't let anyone tell you "you won't even feel it pulling". Nonsense. It tows like nothing else, by I'm here to tell you I know my 5th wheel is back there.
Awesome truck.
I see that all the time. "Don't even know it's back there". Personally if I forget that 7000 lbs is back there or can't feel it. It's time for some coffee or a nap. LOL
