I would not be scared of a fully plastic one, my 1998 Volvo V90 had one fully made of plastic...lasted nearly 15 years. Cheap piece of ****.

This is the only hose that T's off of the heater hoses. I assume this where I should install the heater control valve? Sandy

No not that one.
The hose to your left.
Right above your index finger.

I assume you are talking about the heater hose itself not the hard line I am pointing at. If so there is no T from the previous picture to the firewall as was pictured in your diagram.

Yes the heater hose. I did not post an image of a Coolant system "T".
The "T" in the diagram above is a Vacuum "T".

But you might want to "T" (use) the white vacuum line as it is in a more handy place.

Sorry about the misinterpretation of the diagram. Yes a T near the vac line is a much better place to install. Thanks again for your patience and help. Sandy

Got the heater valve installed and the vac line to T off. The heater valve had an arrow on it and I put it in the direction of the firewall. Vent temp is now close to 40*. Everything seems to be fine and working good. I also had to use the Motorcraft valve since the metal one was not available. Anyone see any issues? Sandy

I’m using that one too and I don’t really like it. It does work, at least it reduces heat over all at the heater core but I still have flow through it.

I was getting close to 40* at idle today with mine. It's working great. Sandy
