Yea, actually, under certain circumstances 55 would be good. But hey, if we are gonna throw all variables out of the window then I'll play along. It's garbage.

I would recommend after you get your a/c figured out to do this mod.

I had the valve sitting on my self for months and finally got around to installing it, it does help keep the air cooler.

You just need to cut the supply heater hose going to the heater and install a standard Ford heater control valve.
Ford has put this valve on on F-series trucks and vans.
You do not have to cut the return hose and with the valve closed there will be no flow in the heater.

Example:

Yes, the vacuum motor controls the valve.

That's what I thought after I saw the video you sent. Either way is going to work but simple is better for me. Sandy

I used the Motorcraft YG136, went this way as it has some metal on it.

Mine just taps into the recycle blend door vacuum pod (aka Max AC) only. My euro cars dating back to the '70s cut off coolant flow to the core when on Max AC, too. Nothing to worry about. Even a 3-6F further drop from the vents is substantial and noticeable.

Keep us posted if/when you do it. My 88 is getting one when I remember to order one.

That YG136 looks more substantial with all the metal and it is about 4.00 less on Amazon.
Thanks Hit Man X. Sandy
