6 volt flasher
Right after I rewired my 53 (6-volt, positive ground) my factory turn signals worked great. They flashed at a reasonable clip. Then, even though I made no additional changes to any wiring or lamping, it started flashing very slowly.I'm assuming that the flasher has crapped out, but I was wondering if there was something in particular that I should be looking for when I buy another one. The one that is so slow was bought through one of the after-part suppliers and was supposed to be the right one for my application.I'm just curious if anyone else has dealt with a similar issue and if I should be looking at specific amperages, etc. If the soundness of the electrical connection might be an issue, then I guess the first place to look for a problem might be at the contacts in the turn signal switch..

I know this may not help you, but turn signals are required by law to blink at a rate of 60 to 120 times a minute. One solution would be to install an electronic flasher, as they don't require a load to operate.
