When you did the carb rebuild, did you install a new power valve and gasket? If not it (the problem) will show up again. But at least you know what caused the gas to leak, and thanks for the update. It will help the next guy!

Yessir....NAPA carb kit came with new PV and corresponding gasket. I guess the only way to truly know it fixed it is to let it sit a few weeks to leak down, pull the carb, and see if that "void" in the intake manifold has filled back up with fuel. But I'll just assume I fixed it 😁
Eric8, just wondering why the interest in rebuilding that particular carb.? The intake (and by extension, likely engine) aren't a numbers match for your truck, so out of curiosity, why mess around with the carb when a Holley 2bbl would give you so much more? Not picking, everyone has their reasons, just curious.
I'm sure you're aware of the massive gains in tip-in power as well as overall driveability and power gains to be had with a Holley.
BTW, I'm not a Holley fanboy, quite the opposite, really. In my not few years building engines for street, strip and off-road, VERY rarely have I used Holley as a go-to, but as most of us know, as a stock replacement for the FoMoCo and associated 2bbl engines the Holley 2bbls just...work.
Admittedly, that takes me out of the "purist" category for good, but better IS better, no?
I see you appear to be in the sales business, and as such perhaps you are intending to flip the vehicle in question, but if not...???
Hi Biker,
I really didn't give the Holley much thought to be honest, because all I've read is positive stuff regarding the Autolite being such a great/reliable carb. Plus, this is an unmolested, all original truck so I don't want to mess with any of that. The casting # on the intake manifold is D1OE and everything else down to the block and factory emissions decal (perfectly intact) checks out with D1XX castings. Definitely not an EGR intake manifold on there...that "void" on the intake is just that...a void. It leads to nothing and has no passage leading to it. What made you think I was in the sales business?
