I took the accelerator lever (picture below)
off the firewall after it noticed it was very difficult to move. I put some WD-40 on it overn9ght then put some lithium grease on it but all they did was loosen it just a small amount. I can't imagine the gas pedal working with the amount of pressure I have to put on the lever for it to move. It's installed on a 62 Flare side where I've upgraded from the straight six cyl to a 302 V-8.
So two questions; Should I upgrade to a cable from a 65-66 F100 assuming it would not use the lever on the firewall? If the answer to the first question is no, then is this part available? I checked Dennis Carpenter and LMC and saw nothing. Maybe ND could chime in, I would appreciate any help.

Some 1965 F100/250 352 2WD's have the accelerator pedal bolted to the floor, some have a suspended accelerator pedal as do all 1966 F100/250 352 2WD's.
Drop it into a bucket of non-diluted Zep Industrial Strength purple degreaser for a couple of days.
That stuff is a lot different than any of the other purple degreasers.

CLR works really good on rust and is a lot faster.
I think your easiest solution would be to find a truck that came with a 302 and get the pedal and linkage from it. If you can't find one nearby you can try Car-Part.com
If you are very tall I think you will find that the floating pedal is a lot more comfortable. My 65 came with the pedal bolted to the floor and it was in a very bad position for me so I converted to a floating pedal and it made my right ankle a lot more happy.
