Question Remote Car Starter

I was wondering if anyone knew of the best and cheapest remote car starter add-on. I wanted to add it on to my existing security system that came stock with my 98 Explorer XLT. Would it be cheaper to do that (do i need to buy a bypass) or would I be better off just buying one of those all in one systems. I don't care about how hard it will be to install, I just want the cheapest. Thanks.

Last year I installed a Cool Start Crime Stopper rs900iv in a 01 Grand Marq. It went in easy you do need a wire diagram and possibly a pats module. I do have the wire color code if you need it. Also when you get the unit in you will have to have the pats unit programmed in by the dealer or an audio shop that installs alarms.

The unit was just over $120 I think, Pats $25 and to have it programmed runs about $50-75.

Good Luck nothing worse than sticking your head under a dashboard.

This year I purchased a Code Alarm Gold for an Exp-ST 03 and have had nothing but headaches. I cannot get the new system to accept the old system and I cannot get the new remotes to work with all of the factory RKE yet....

JC Whitney has one for about $50. If you have Ford's PATS key system you will need a bypass and perhaps one or more relays. The total should be less than $75. The installation is not easy though, probably why the dealers really don't push it.
