i have an '84 F-250.
it has always groaned a bit when i turn left sharply, and i never thought anything about it. however, i hit a bear a couple of weeks ago, and since then it has been really bad. it groans even if i am just parked on an incline. i cant figure out for the life of me where it's coming from.
any ideas?
yea, i dont think the bear felt a thing... i didnt see him until it was too late & hit him about 90km/hr.
well, my husband says it sounds like a rattling from outside but from in the cab it just sounds like it's groaning. i believe it's coming from the front left corner.
the truck used to just make noise when i was turning, but now it's making the noise all the time, any time the truck is at an angle. whether it's driving straight up a hill, or being stopped on an incline. seems to do it more at slower speeds though.
there is probably something that was loose that got broken loose when you hit the bear.. I'd look underneath at the steering box and the core support, and where the fender meets the core support. the where the most common places that things break/come loose (that i've seen).
Does it make the noise only when its moveing or does it make the noise when its stoped also. if it does it when moveing then maybe might wanna check and make sure your wheel bearings are good and well greased too. also check the piviot bushings might be part of the rattling too.
