38000 miles. Check engine light. Error code is P0676 indicates a fault in the Cylinder 6 Glow Plug electrical circuit. After checking some online vids not sure I want to attack this. Could it be the glow plug module? Will the code reset if I replace? I have the part, but wanting to get a couple of opinions whether to drive to the dealership instead. Thanks in advance.
The Power Stroke engine has a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. I would contact local dealer to see if this is a covered repair if a glow plug is bad.
They are probably going to charge you diag fees and reprogramming the GPCM per the pin point test for your error code.
Here is the code initial diag chart.
Part of the AF test is to measure the GP resistance which should be 2 ohm or less to ground. Also it suggest to remove the GP connector and look for damage. Might try removing the plug and attach it, clear the codes and then do a key on test of the wait to start to see if the code returns.
Here is the procedure for changing the GP's. Doesn't sound like an involved procedure other than removing the inner fender splash shield but then many repair procedures on our trucks require the splash shield to be removed on one side or the other.
