You can't get the camper option if you go with 20's....I was in the same boat on rim size, but wanted the camper option/certification on my 2019 F-350 (need the payload over a 250) mainly for liability reasons if I ever put a camper on it. So I went with 18's. Additionally, if you get the heavy duty tow package or beefier springs (camper or snow plow package or heavy duty tow), you'll appreciate the ride quality of the 18's. I am glad with my choice.
I went back and forth on my order. Didnt want this new chrome process. The wheel I liked best was the 20" machined cast on the Lariat. I also did not want to buy aftermarket wheels. I also intend to wear out the factory tires and replace with 295/65/20S. Most in this size are just over 35. I also went with 4.30 gears/gas. They are expensive. I was running 265/75/16 Duratracs on my 07 GMC. Mounted and balanced they ran over &1200.00. I barely could get 40,000 miles. The 295/20s will be over 1500. Im hoping to maybe get a few more miles out of them to balance that out. Brand and style of tire will enter into that part of the decision. As far as ride. My new Lariate rides noticeably better than my 07 2500HD. Under most conditions. A lot of that is the tires.
I really like the look of the 20 inch machined cast wheels. They look good with Nitto Ridge Grapplers with no lift. Or minor level.
I guess I'll throw my opinion in here too... I like the 18's. I like the beefier look of more tire. Plus as stated several times, tires for 18's are cheaper. Strange how more rubber costs less...
Thank you to all for the the advise and suggestions.
After looking at aftermarket wheels, I have found nothing the really excites me😞
So I pulled the trigger on some LT295/65R20 Michelin Defender LTX and have kept my 20" factory wheels.
It's funny when guys say 20s fill up the wheel well better than 18s. That's wheel size not overall tire size. A 35 is a 35. In fact, more tire side wall "looks" like a bigger tire and "appears" to fill the wheel well better. 18s look and perform better unless you are going for the mall crawler look.
