Definitely not a prep issue but thanks for your confidence. All mating surfaces were wiped clean with the alcohol wipes provided. I had a helper on both to ensure exact alignment and it was allowed to sit overnight before driving in both instances.

Either way, it doesn't matter, I'll never have another.

The dealer I bought my truck from puts it on all the outer door frames at no extra cost to protect the paint and the dealer offers a lifetime replacement for them.
I just noticed something like that on a relative's Subaru today. It's pretty much invisible, except that the forward part of the hood is a little bit shinier. That seems like a great way to go.

Have had quite a few bug shields over the years. And appreciate what they do. However, most have eventually damaged the paint on the hood, under the shield from their edges hitting it. The last of them installed double-sided tape rubber bumpers under shield to protect the hood. Which lasts about as long as the first few car washes. Not doing the bug shield again. Maybe the new installs are directed at preventing paint damage.

I gave up on bug guards several years ago too. I don't even like how they look on newer trucks and always ended up with paint damage on the edges of the hood.

I put an AVS Bugflector II on my wife's 2018. I had to get some aluminum self tapping screws at the hardware store because the plastic junk it came with didn't work at all but once I got it installed it is rock solid. It doesn't do much for bug protection but it keep the leading edge of the hood from getting chipped up. I've never removed one after a few years so I don't know or care if the visor rubs the paint off the edge of the hood(out of sight, out of mind).

Check out Stampede. I have one on my 09 F150. Molded to match the hood / grille contour and held in place by bolts from the grille and additional screws. Been on the truck for 10 years now with no problems

I second the Stampede. I bought a clear shield and back painted it the same color as my truck. I will do the same on my next truck.

There's just no one good answer. Here in South Texas clear film turns yellow after a few years, then begins to crack and becomes impossible to remove.

Pretty much what I figure too - no answer. Bugs and especially early moths are awful, early butterflies too - it's a big mess. If it is a dry summer, the grasshoppers will create their new challenge. And also scratch the paint. Have also considered the clear bra and living in the high mountain southwest - no doubt anything plastic will be yellow that has glued itself on. Giving up on the bug deflectors that do more damage than the bugs.

Put a clear Stampede on both trucks, but had them match painted, to the truck.

2019 XLT WeatherTech worked great

I just installed the WeatherTech. Mechanical fasteners not the stick on model. Fasteners worked great. Very secure.
EZ install. Nice look and coverage.

How long did you have it? They only attach with tape and that scares me...

What year? Did the correct fasteners come with it? From what I've seen, it looks like WeatherTech uses both fasteners and tape... there's a fastener-only model?

Choose stone and bug deflector. It comes with mechanical fasteners that are appropriate for the task.
No tape is used.
2019 Ford F150. I installed approximately 3 weeks ago.
Nice
