Door visors

I’m looking at getting door visors. In channel or on outside? Which one will give me less noise?

I have AVS low profile. Virtually no noise.

AVS, outside.

The in-channel visors have a lot of issues with interfering with the windows operation if you read the reviews

I have the weathertech in channel visors and I’m not impressed. If one side of the truck sits facing the sun for extended periods, the visor interferes with the window closing. The noise level with the window open an inch is a lot louder than previous trucks I had with the stick on type. The other thing I don’t like is the in channel ones have scratched the top of the windows with all the dust/dirt that gets in between the window and the visor. Only reason I left them on is the visors cover the scratches on the window. They look good though. Lol.

Local shop here told me they have had lots of problems with the in-channel kind and no longer sell them.

I ordered the AVS stick on ones, but have yet to install them as I don't quite have my truck yet. I've had the same style on my wife's SUV for 15 years and have never noticed any wind noise from them. I hope the same is true for the ones that will go on the SD.

Can anyone with the AVS low profile stick ons post some up close pictures of where the tab goes behind the plastic mirror trim? I ordered a set over winter, and just went to install them the other day of course doing a test fit first, and did not like how far the mirror trim was pushed out with the little tab. So I did not install them.

Thanks

I had the AVS low profile on my '12 F-250 and they were ok. I actually sanded/filed down the tab that goes behind the mirror because as you said it made the mirror stick out to far. I have AirSleek stick ons on my '17 F-250 and couldn't be happier.

Visors

I installed AVS 94975 smoked ventshades on my 2019 f250, they work great. They are stick on the paint outside the window. I've used this brand and style for years and wouldn't think of using any other. As one member stated, they do have a tab that goes behind the mirror moulding I was leary about, but they work just fine. I guess if it bothered you enough, one could take a dremel tool & modify the plastic a little so the tab would fit easier. They work perfect for me though. I originally ordered the low profile type but sent them back. Didn't like the way they mounted so close to window.

You didn't like them so close to the window visually? Or functionally?

I ordered some in channel ones from EGR. They are matte black. I'll send some pics when they come Monday.

Yup...I also cut & sanded down the tab that went behind the mirror trim. It was not physically possible for it to work on my truck. The mirror trim was too tight to the door, and the tab on the visor was too thick and large to fit behind it....it was going to break or stress crack something.
