Cam questions
What are stage 2? Or is it just hyping things?
Thanks.

The "RV" cams add about 12 degrees over the stock cam to the intake duration which broadens the power band but they also add way too much exhaust duration for a 300 six (22 degrees) which increases valve overlap.
This is counter productive to low end torque and fuel mileage.
For street use the 300 six works best with single profile cam profile. (or close to it)
What we find is; cam durations can be increased by 30 degrees over stock without a penalty to low end torque and coupled with bigger valves and port work provide a very wide usable power band.
Any cam in this range that increases torque and widens the power band can be considered an RV cam.
The main limiting factor for 300 performance is the cylinder head and adding bigger valves and port work allows a person to take advantage of larger cams.
"Hot Street Cams" begin with .050" durations around 230 degrees and above.
