Cool Down Time
SWITCHING OFF THE ENGINE - 6.7L DIESEL
Switch the ignition off.
To help prolong engine life, we recommended you allow the engine to idle for three to five minutes, especially after any of the following:
- Continuous engine speed.
- High ambient temperature.
- High GVW or GCW operation, for example heavy loads or trailers.

For those especially concerned about cool down I would recommend using turbine temperature for what dictates shut down rather than time.
On my '02 7.3 I installed the ISSPro Turbo Temp Monitor ISSPRO TURBO TEMP MONITOR
This device senses when the pre or post turbo temp drops to a given level (usually 300 degrees) then shuts the engine down. The truck can be locked and with ignition off and doors locked with keys out during the cool down period.
I believe it would take some adaptation to use it on a new 6.7.
Personally I don't feel this device is needed for the 6.7 which has turbine cooloing that the 7.3 did not have.
