ENGINE wiring diagrams needed..
if anyone can point me in the direction of some engine wiring diagrams for an '86 & '89 F-150 4.9L ('86 equipped with feedback carb) i would appreciate it. I finally had time to pickup the parts for my EFI conversion tuesday. after comparing both harnesses, there are more wires going to the cab than the '86.. plus coloring is different. i am very good at rigging up wiring to anything, so it wouldnt be much of a challenge, i ust need those wiring diagrams.
anyway here's the parts i picked up for the swap:
intake (upper and lower) w/ 5.0L TB
, fuel rail assembly w/ lines, EGR valve, wiring harness and (not pictured) ECM. i also picked up the gaskets while i was at it.. Fuel pump i already have.. its out an '87 econoline 150 5.0L i used to have a couple years ago. I have another '87 econoline i bought before i junked the previous.when this was talked about earlier, people told me to stick with carb.. my carb is shot, and the intake gasket was leaking. that about $250 right there. i wouldnt mind spending those $250 on something much more reliable, and something unique. welll it probably wont actualy come up t $250 since i've spent abut $143 total and the only few things i need are some fuel lines and a fuel filter.
also about the TB... the one it originally had was cracked, so while i was at the junkyard, i picked up the 5.0L TB.. much much larger than the original, but the benefits wont result as one would expect because the bore on the actual upper plenum is still puny:
anyway All i need is those wiring diagrams and i'm set. i'll keep you kids posted.
i got the intake, and some of the wiring taken care of.
so far, so good.. ran into a few problems with the old exhaust header.. shrunk in size and had the stupid heater valve opening directly below the intake which i needed to cap off. the cap caused me a big headache because it got in the way of a couple bolts.. i reget not picking up the '87+ headers like i should have in the first place.. but it was gonna cost me extra money for the headers and having an exhaust shop adapt the dual headers to a single pipe, not to mention the bung for the 02 sensor
