General question for the group regarding hand washing my 1964 F100. I just bought it a couple of months ago and the pollen here in Massachusetts is starting to rear its ugly head. What products do you prefer? And anything to definitely stay away from? And what about cleaning the dash/interior?
Is your truck painted in a single stage or a basecoat clear combo? 303 protectant is my choice for anything rubber, vinyl or leather. Never use dish soap it's to harsh on the finish. learn to use a clay bar to get the tough stuff off. To finish it off TR3 resin glaze if it's oxidized or Meguiar's cleaner wax on single stage paint. Don't use the TR3 on clearcoats. Either one of these will not dry and stick to the paint.
For a couple hundred bucks or so, you can have the very best custom cover that will stop that pollen in the first place. That, and a California Duster kept behind the seat, will get you through the bad pollen season(s).
We use the truck for our business. I have both a soft tonneau cover, and some fancy sideboards on my 66, otherwise I would be taking that route when the trees are dropping lots of crap. But I could not find a cover to fit, or else the cost would have been too high for a custom made cover. I just have to wash and wax more frequently.
