Hey gents! Just bought an 89 f250 2wd, 460 5spd laaaaast night! I know I said it's my first but I had a 78 merc cougar in high school. Does it count?
I've had nothin but weirdly poor luck with 2 dodge rams, 2 c10 chevys, and an 81 monte carlo. So Boom! I bought a Ford.
I friggin excited for this truck, I just moved to wa from socal an sold 2 trucks to get here with my fam of 6. And we should be moving into our house in about a week and I got some work to do on that. Flooring, cabinets...etc.
I'm a decent shadetree mech, and there are a few things I've got to fix on this F250 so that's why I'm here. PDL are inop, drivers PW inop, radio inop, push button start....yeah... and wipers issues, needs some tires and eventually suspension. Let's get to work boys! 🛠⚒

I think so. The question is: Did the Cougar turn you away from Fords until now? . . . or was the Cougar so cool that you've been dreaming of getting a Ford since then?

The truck will definitely help with this. You'll need to get BIG cabinets with that 460 involved.

No! The cougar didn't turn me away. I was a die-hard Chevy guy and the sbc is extremely plentiful and cheap to build so I stayed with it. Always had respect for Ford since my little bro had like 4 mustang's and his cars were runners man. You can beat on em and 3rd geard always pulls like a freight trane..not sure why. Hahaha!
This ain't my first Old Truck! But it is my first Ancient EFI truck. Lol. And tracking down issues is proving difficult. But thanks to this forum and its members I'm working through issues quickly!
Yeah the SBC is a great engine, except for all the ones they ruined in the late `90's with a crummy intake design in the pickups and SUVs. It was still a good engine then, until coolant got into the crankcase.
. . . and yeah it is interesting to watch "modern" electronically-controlled systems endure the years . . . and support cycles.
