I had an occasional squeal coming from my idler pulley, during start-up, over the winter. That went away as warmer weather came, but I am going to replace them this week. I am looking for some recommendations on which brand to go with; Motorcraft or aftermarket? Do any have better bearings than the others? (I usually use OEM, but thought id ask). I also replaced the s-belt about a month or 2 ago, should I replace it again after I replace the pulleys?
I used motorcraft idler pulleys and tensioner when I changed them about a year ago.
Not everyone sees it this way, but the idlers, belt and tensioner all get replaced at the same time in any of my vehicles. $120 worth of parts will save you money in the long run if the tensioner explodes and takes out the fan and radiator.
