Truck has an AutoZone starter in it came that way when I bought it probably not worth rebuilding but I'll keep that in mind if I find a good one
You'd be surprised how many starters I've gone through that just need a simple cleaning and regressing of the bearings. Most function as good as new afterwards. The most common failure cause other than over cranking abuse is fuel/oil leaks that make there way into the starter.
There's not much to em and at this point what do you have to loose?
That's definitely good to know I'll check that out by the way a friend of mine said something about denso starters being good does anyone know anything about these
A lot of guys like the Power Master 9050.
I stuck one on probably yr 1/2 ago or so. works like a charm.
Bought mine from Summit racing in Reno.
My bro in Law has one on his 41 *****`s Street Rod and has worked ok for him,
Yeah sometime a little cleaning up and you are good to go.... sometimes,
We had a 85 Mazda 626 from new years ago. Starter started to give me problems.
Got one from one of the yards, and it started to drag. gave it a shot of WD-40, and
sort of gave it a shot in the arm and worked for the next several years...till we sold it.
My original Mitsubishi starter on my 7.3 lasted me 19 years and a little over 242,000 miles before an overhaul. And then the only really worn out component was brushes which is to be expected. Never had a Nippondenso apart but they have a good rep too. The Mitsubishis have huge bearings for its size and the normal bronze bushing in the drive end housing.
Holy Crap, that's expensive! A complete like-new overhaul from a local auto/electric shop on my Mitsu was only $104 with US components. I was going to buy the parts from him and do it myself but the brush wires are spot welded in and he said my way of getting around that wasn't the best so for that price I just took it up to his shop.
I have no problem buying a $400 denso if it'll fit my truck it's got a 4kw rating I want the best I can get for Montana's cold weather not really planning on having my AutoZone starter rebuilt
Awesome thank you everyone it'll be a good overhaul when I'm done brand new cables from custombatterycables cables already installed new flexplate to replace chewed up one new denso starter with new 950CCA batteries
