It's my first time buying new tires for my 1979 F150 2wd, it currently has 31-10.5-15's on it, with chrome smoothy rims, and I don't know the rim width, doing a tire search it says I should have 235-75-15's for my truck, a deeper Google search tells me a comparison to my tires I have now would be more like 265-75-15, so I am asking the great and powerful members of FTE, what would you suggest I use as replacement tires ????
Mostly it depends on what you like. do you like the looks of what you have ? a little smaller ? a lot of guys used to run 235/70-15's .
I don't remember what they came with but they looked stupidly small. you don't want to go there I'd bet..
Yes, I'd up the tire size a bit. My current tires are stock size for these rims and year(92-96) and the look really small(see my siganture). But I picked up these complete rims, caps, lug nuts with new tires for $200. I plan to replace with 265 70 15's when it's time. I've seen them on buddies truck and they look much better.
I've got the 235/70/15s on mine. If you want to use that size, Walmart has, or at least had, a good deal on Goodyear Wranglers for less than $80 per tire. Everyplace else I looked wanted over $100 for brands I hadn't heard of.
