Well after I got it on, I think it is too much. It is so big and bright and everything else on truck is dull and rusty. It stands out too much. I wanted something sort of subtle. I made it up last winter out of a No Smoking sticker and a Mater sticker bought off ebay. Old truck is fun, been enjoying it this spring, love the 300/5spd. Good dirt road truck.
But if it gets kids interested in old trucks.......
they can “Mater” all they want.
Cool sticker though.
to each their own, but i feel this sums it right up. everyone i come across usually calls me a old soul (im 31) but i have always been into all kinds of old stuff or older country music/outlaw (Cody jinks, hank Williams sr,jr,3rd, Waylon, haggard), ham radio, Coleman lanterns, gasoline bow torches, old trucks, tractors, semi trucks, hit n miss engines, etc, etc. now im guilty for not being joined up with a lot of clubs but i try to get out to the open houses, tractor shows, threshing shows, light ups(coleman lanterns), etc. you don't see much of of the younger folk (40ys old and under) that are active in the preservation and use of older stuff.
so long story short, if a fake mater can brighten up a kids day and maybe spark off a interest in there little minds so be it... the more time they are away from the electronic leashes even better.
greg, awesome truck you have there
brian, thats a awesome truck also, i really like the teeth.
This brings back memories. Once when I walked out of a store there was a couple with a mentally challenged little boy looking at my truck. He kept on yelling "Mater! Mater! " And trying to pull his Mom toward the truck. I asked if he would like to get his picture taken with Mater and the little guys eyes lit up. I even opened the door and told him to hop in. His parents were so grateful that someone would take the time to show some kindness to a special child. It made my day to be able to brighten his.
So, if a child wants to call my truck Mater, go right ahead!
