Last Friday when I left work I noticed my CEL stayed on after I started the truck. I drove straight to the dealership to have them scan it to find out the problem and came back with code p208e. He said it was an issue with the def tank and heater that it needed to be replaced, so they ordered a new one which should be in today.
I asked him if it was ok to drive or if I should just leave it there and he said it was fine to drive for a couple of days. Well I didn't use it all weekend since I only use it during the week until camping season. And yesterday when I took it to work which is a 10 round trip, on my way home the light turned off.
So has anybody received this code before, and is it really ok to drive?
And if the tank and heater is replaced is it covered under warranty?
The truck is a 17 which I bought last Feb and have roughly 20,000 miles. And was purchased brand new. I don't let my def go below 1/2 a tank because I've read issues on here of letting it go too low. And I have been using the Ford def fluid when I need to fill, and is filled by the dealer when the truck is serviced.
I got a code a while back that said the def injector valve was stuck closed . Did some research to find location , got under the truck with a small hammer and tapped on the solenoid as you would on a starter solenoid and no problem since . Hope yours does the same !!!
