I am working on a 78 with the 300. My question is should I replace the water pump and outlet tube since they are original and new ones are pretty cheap?
There isn't a problem with the originals, (outlet tube was a little crusty when I replaced hoses) but eventually I will have to drain and pull the radiator to replace the core support bushings.

Thanks in advance.
I'd say do it, the original is over 40 years old, no sense in waiting for it to fail after you have it all back together. I'd go with a napa heavy duty unit. I wouldn't use the cheap auto zone/advance/schucks/kragen/0reillys stuff
Yes replacing water pump of an unknown age is good idea and one less thing to fail unexpectedly down the road. Just be sure to pay up and get the highest quality pump you can find.
