Who has the answer as to why my 2017 Ford F350 will not charge my RV batteries. Drove from Maine to Florida last weekend and after the first day the 2 AGM batteries were dead.
Test the trailer wiring. My Proline enclosed snowmobile trailer is wired such that the running lights have to be on to charge the breakaway switch battery on the trailer....

The problem is in the Ford. To much modern electronics. It is not putting any power to the seven way plug. This happens to a lot of them, from the factory. A lot theories as to what to do. Just would like a definitive answer.

Mine has juice to seven way. I've heard some talk of tapping the brakes twice to energize? I tested mine to be sure, and it works. That led me to the trailer. The salesman told me the running lights need to be on. I thought that was silly, but I tested and verified. If you have no power to the seven way, then it would seem like a warranty issue...

Same for my 5er, lights etc dont work unless I have my truck lights turned on.

It comes down to how the trailer is connected to the truck, it also matters if the ground wire is connected through the 7pin and not and if the truck is running when the trailer is connected. Despite that I still only saw a 10amp charge rate, gave up and did a dedicated 2/0 charge cable with a Anderson QC between the truck and the trailer.
I I have been researching for 3 days on DRV and Grand Design forums and this is a wide spread Ford issue. My son-in-law is a Ford service manager back in Maine. We will get it figured out. My Mobile Suites has a lot of electronics and a residential frig. 2 mornings on the way down I had to hook a battery booster pack on my batteries to power up the slides. My inverter generator would not power my fifth wheel either. I made up an Edison rectables so I can charge it at night. It just sucks that Ford makes it complicated. I put a 30 amp fuse in position 27 and will try that in the am. Also have a Curt 53007 7 way receptacle coming that
will enable to bypass the trailer connected signal. And maybe by tapping the brakes it will work. My camper has disc brakes and it uses a different signal. Ford screwed this up. Inverter generators have a floating ground and are compatible with modern fifth wheels. Sorry for the mistakes above, I was trying to correct a mistake and screwed it up

Reason: Missing word
Mine charges both my Odyssey GRP 31 Extremes, that said you MIGHT have a ghost drain on your system in your 5er i know I do and no one can find it, it will kill my batteries if they set up for 2 weeks without being plugged in...
Thursday I hooked up to a Keystone Laredo fifth wheel with a completely dead battery. So dead it wouldn’t even power an LED bulb. Pulled it from New Jersey to Indiana. Upon arrival ran the landing gear and docking lights on the battery alone.
When I hook up to a camper I don’t worry about whether the truck is running or not, sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t - never had a problem with any camper or associated equipment.
On my 2019 Lariat the fuse for the charge pin on the 7-way connector was not installed. I installed one and the pin read output. Maybe that fuse went bad on yours?
The fuse in the number 27 position is not factory installed. Other forums say it is not needed. Ford says it is not needed. I installed one and this morning and will try it later. Have to hook up the camper for the truck to recognize the truck.

Seems pretty simple to me.
With the trailer battery completely dead, I don't believe that you have any power to operate the brakes from the breakaway switch, in case you have a disconnect.
