Sometimes after my 89 (300 I6)has sat for a day or two, it runs rough on start-up. It seems to be a miss, and then smoothes itself back out after driving about a half mile. It doesn't allways do this, and there appears to be no rhyme or reason to it. I have cleaned the IAC valve and have yet to dissassemble the EGR and do the same. Any ideas?
Does the check engine light come on? If so, you should try and pull the codes and see what you get. But im not sure if you have that light, i know that not all models had it until like 92 or something.
O.K. the old girl did it after work today and I had the bright idea to try and determine which cylinder was missing so I began disconnecting the plug wires one at a time. Besides getting bitten many times I didn't learn much. On a couple of the cylinders it killed the engine. On some of the others it did not. It also does not make sense to me how a spark problem would clear itself running down the road in about a mile The engine was running very rough and vibrating with a definate lack of power. Previously the codes showed a BAP sensor would this cause the truck to act like this?
