Fuel tank sizing question.
I have to drop my tank to change the sending unit and re-plumb my 1986 F150 standard cab 6.5' bed.
I was curious, it appears I have the 16.5 gallon tank. Can I put the 19 gallon tank in with no additional modifications?

Thanks I saw several threads on it. But there was a lot of discussion on converting to rear mount and extended tanks or seemed geared towards long beds. Thanks for the info. I must have missed Dave's post in all of that.

The post was not started by me but another member.
I answered it as I did try to install the 19 gal from my parts truck and thete was no (easy) way this would happen.
Because the larger tank would not fit is why adding a rear tank, like to a flare side truck, was brought up.
I also answered that one as did it to my flare side but could be done the se way to a style side that did not have a rear tank.
Also note the sending units are different between the 16 gal & 19 gal side tanks.
