So I was driving my 1986 Ford F-150 5.0 fuel injected down the road and it just cut off after sputtering for a little while. It wouldn’t crank back so I went and got some gas and put it in the truck. That didn’t work so I bought a coil for it. It still won’t crank. I’m thinking it could be my distributer but not sure. Can anyone tell me what else it could be? Thanks in advance
You will have to stop and do some troubleshooting. You can go by Harbor Freight and get their spark tester. Unplug one of the sparkplug wires and insert the tester and then get someone to watch it as you crank it over. If you have spark, then you must not have fuel. If you do not have spark, then you know to keep going down that trail.
Too many things it could be to start guessing and replacing stuff. Troubleshoot first.
Does that mean the starter won't do.anything? Or does the starter engage and spin the crankshaft normally (typically known as "cranking") but the engine won't run on its own?
