1995 Aerostar 4.0L 131k. I recently changed oil and filter. I used the Wally World 5 quart 5w-30 and Carquest Blue (Wix) filter. Also replaced the air filter with a Carquest Blue. About 200 miles after the service I notice the "Check Oil" light came on. Dipstick showed it was down a 1 quart. I filled it thinking maybe I didn't get the filter full when I added oil. A day later, after 20 miles of driving I checked the dipstick again. It was 1/2 quart high. So a dropped a bit out of the pan so it was where it belongs. oil looked fine. That was three weeks ago and 350 miles ago. Today after starting the van which was parked downhill, the "check oil" light appeared again. Haven't checked the dipstick since it has been raining pretty hard for the past couple hours. Had an opportunity to post something. Will check level once it lets up.
My A-star doesn't blow smoke, doesn't drip oil nor is the coolant discolored or foamy. No COL. Could this be a PCV valve problem? Could this be related to the oil or air filter change?
I hope the issue was the PCV valve. had to shake it hard to get a rattle. least expensive auto part I've ever purchased. Rear driver's side valve cover. remove doghouse for access.
