I posted a wanted ad a few days ago and had received no response so I figured I would ask about ford truck wheel compatibility. I am looking to purchase some wheels for my 1955 f100 with stock axles. I have been searching craigslist and ebay for months looking for some stock wheel replacements but cant seem to find any in my area and the cost of purchasing and shipping these from sellers makes them to much for my budget. I recently found some 1976-1983 wheels that are the 5x5.5 bolt pattern that our trucks use, 15x6. My question is will these fit the 55 model? I understand the center caps for the newer model wheels are larger in diameter but are there any other differences that would not allow them to fit?
I have also found a few other wheels I like but by the time I add center caps they are well over $100 each then add the cost of tires. I am looking to spend in the $500 range for 4 wheels and tires.
The stock wheel that you link to will work fine with your truck. Those wheels will not accept the wheel covers that came stock on your truck. Stock rim (innie) "Late model" rim (outie)
The rims you linked will fit your truck fine. Have you checked your local wrecking yards for the same wheels? I would think you could source those wheels locally for around $100 for the set. Most yards are filled with old F100/150's. Craigslist is also a good place to find used wheels. 5 on 5.5 wheels in various widths usually abound at local swap meets, too. It's a popular size among the street rod crowd as that pattern dates back to 1928.
