With the same length truck and trailer, I'm more than a foot longer (59'10"). My silverback camper is stock, so I suppose it just has a longer pin box, the box is set farther forward, my hitch sets farther back, or some combination ot the three,. I can hook up at a sharp angle without my tailgate hitting the trailer, so I like the extra length.

Thanks!! My trailer came with the roto-flex pin box which does look short so maybe thats part of the length difference. I have to get my truck straight to avoid hitting the tailgate on the camper so maybe the setback will help.
Total length was a big consideration when it came time to choose our new trailer. With our previous 35+' bumper pull we were 58' total. We are now just a hair over 50'. So far, I love the more compact size. Easier to change lanes, back into a campsite, or maneuver through a gas station.
Those big trailers are very nice but my thoughts were the same. Figure 30' behind was enough for us since we were planning a lot of traveling. Of coarse the wife fell in love with a 35' bumper pull. Lucked out that they had the same floor plan in a 32' fifth ( same box, more or less) ) so that's what we bought. Never measured but guessing we're around 50' maybe slightly under. Things have been close enough in some tight spots and that blind tail swing when turning left drives me nuts as it is. Guess you can get used to anything and have been very impressed how some can bring those huge rigs right where they need to be. On the other hand. you see plenty of fancy motorhomes/trailers and the driver can't get it into a pull through. Guessing by simply knowing my limitations, we just didn't want to be one of 'those' people...LOL
