My 2015 f150 5.0 Coyote idles rough and sometimes dies when stopped for extended periods of time at traffic lights after warm up. This condition has been diagnosed as needing to replace the intake and exhaust VCT Sequencer Solenoids. Has anyone performed this maintenance task? The service manual does a very poor job of covering this task and I am looking for clarification.
The service manual says to detach/move wiring, detach/move hoses, remove coils, etc., remove valve covers (I can see why this is necessary), the front engine cover (Why?) and remove and replace the small oil filters in the ends of the Sequencers (Ford gives no part number for this part in their service manual) before installing new solenoids. I've asked my local parts stores about the filters and they all tell me they don't exist in their parts list.
