Question front airshock leak

Does anyone have an expy with the front and rear air ride suspension? The check suspension light keeps going on and the air pump seems to go on and off quite often when i am sitting at a stoplight. When i turn the truck off i do hear what sounds like a slight airleak near the front left side of the truck but i don't know if this is normal for this type of suspension.

Looks like you have an air leak. Check all lines first, that's usually where leaks would appear as rear bags are super tough, and front shocks do wear over time but rarely leak unless they have extreme mileage on them. I replace mine every 30K miles just to maintain maximum control and handling. They are $129 each at the Ford dealers. You can't get them any place else. Of coure, if you do have a leaking one, replace both front, never just one, unless they are only a few thousand miles old.

When you turn the engine off and exit the vehicle, the air will be let out so that the vehicle can drop 1 inch closer to the ground for easier ingress so that escaping air sound in front and rear is normal. If you don't egress but stay in the vehicle after turning off the engine and hear the air sound only in the front, you have a leak.

Hope this helps.

I just had that same leak...front left...hard to tell where it comes from. Mine was actually the shock...although to be sure I pulled the tire and played with the sensor to make the shock try and air up...the sensor is right behind the tire at the top...you can't miss it...it just clips on.

FYI, my compressor was running quite a bit also, you can turn it off on the passenger side, just under the glove box and on the right hand said, its marked.

Also, you might try turning the switch off for a few minutes and then back on so it will reset...you may, as tsd said, simply be hearing the shocks lowering...its worth a shot...

Like tsd said...get them at the Ford dealer...$135 or so w/tax each.
