From https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts/ford-spring-front_2c3z-5310-la.html?Make=Ford&Model=Excursion&Year=2002&Submod el=&Filter=(e=10-cyl-6-8l;t=4at-4r100)&Location=pd:,
Does anyone know if i can use either one??
I asked the dealerships and they didnt know what the codes were.
I have a 2002 ex 2wd v10 that the front end hits the bump stops... ....
From Pirate's info the stock ride height for the front should be for the right - 4.24in and left 4.72in.
Our 2002 2WD V10 134K has stock front suspension except for a Hellwig anti-roll bar and new shocks: the right is 3.75in and left is 4.25in.
The front end shows no indication of hitting the bump stops and I've never felt it do so.
The OEM gas shocks were toast at 108K, when compressed they would not extend.
How many miles on yours and have the shocks ever been replaced?
108k from the stock shocks is fantastic, so fantastic I would be willing to bet they were not doing much dampening well before they failed to extend, I’d expect more like 50k miles out of a stock shock on a vehicle that was babied....they just are not very long lasting due to the twin tube design, the oil becomes frothy very easy,
how long ago and which setting do you have them on ?
Find a speed bump like the ones behind most supermarkets and try hitting it at 20 mph on #1 setting, likely bottom easily.
Then try number 4 and see if you can get the front to bottom. Should take a pretty solid hit to bottom out on #4
Had it on setting 3...was traveling to AZ on the freeway hit a pothole and it hit the bump stop on the right side and the x swerverd real hard. Was a sc a ry one.
It is not a daily driver only use it for trips several times a year.
Might be worth removing the passenger side shock and verifying it is still working by putting your weight in it and compressing it, Make sure that when it is compressing to full that the action is smooth and equal the entire stroke, also listen to it, You can hear them when the oil is junk....make a sort of gurgle sound, Also note the same on rebound, smooth action and not noisy. Me thinks it is junk and needs replacing. Do they still have lifetime warranty ?
I bought the Ex with 104K on it from the original owner and it took awhile to get the suspension sorted out because there was no rear anti-roll bar, the rear springs were soft, the tires were worn and a few of the tie rod ends were bad.
The shocks were probably worn out a lot of miles earlier.
It still has the OEM brakes at 134K, but they're almost gone.
... However don’t confuse sagged spring as being “soft” Curious thing about springs is that even as they sag they retain their spring rate.
By "soft" I was thinking when I hooked up our trailer the rear end dropped a lot, 2 1/2"
With the stock F250 rear leafs the drop is 1 1/2".
The overall ride feels better, too.
[QUOTE=Lolvera;18633185]Here are the measurements...
Driver side is 3 7/8"
Passenger is 3 3/8"
I may need to replace the springs... /QUOTE]
Those are definitely sitting lower than ours.
How many miles on them?
