How do you remove the trim around the windshield? I have a trim removal tool that I got from Harbor Freight. I somehow managed to remove the side pieces, but I cannot for the life of me, get the bottom one off. There are 4 tools in the kit, and I have tried 3 of them from every angle that I can think of, and I still cannot get the molding to release.
Do you put the tool in from the window side or the cowl side? Do you hook the clip and pull, or push it up or down to release?
The bottom clips are built a bit differently than the sides, and top.
The clip is a heafty tab, with a rectangular punch-out in it's middle. the removal technique is similar to the others - work from the glass side, and pull. BUT, you'll have to reach a bit higher up inside the trim (further from the glass) to be able to pull the required poundage to get these to release.
Instead of just holding a bit of chrome against the cowl, the chrome moulding it's self has a thick plastic tab, which doesn't slide out as easily. They hold tighter, due to the fact that this moulding actually holds the back side of the cowl to the truck...
