Hey guys I just tried putting in a spartan locker in my truck it didn’t work cause I have a LS. So I learned that the hard way. Now I think I’m gonna just beef up the limited slip with clutch’s. I also noticed my spider gears have some play. I suspected that when I did my 3.55 to 4.10 swap last year. Is there any one out there that sells a whole kit? Spider gears cross shaft and clutch discs? I know bronco grave yard does but but not as a kit together. Just trying to save some cash before I order.

Some play in the spiders is normal I wouldn't worry about that and unless the cross shaft is physically damaged it should be good too, just get a set if clutch packs and use those along with parts from the old packs to overstuff each side enough to make reassembly difficult but not impossible.

I installed the Ford Performance carbon fiber clutch kit a few months ago and have been very happy with the performance compared to the original set up.
I wouldn't replace any of the gears unless there is an obvious problem, and if there was new assemblies are cheap enough I would just buy a whole new assembly instead of replacing parts.

I’ve always had a “bang” going into gear forward or reverse. I thought a new ring and pinion plus bearings would fix it. I know it’s In The diff. So that’s the last thing to change. I was playing with them while they where in the carrier. Definitely some wear on them. So for 150ish $ I’ll swap them

Since the spiders see lots of torque but very little velocity (unless you 'drift' it a lot) they almost always fail by
galling- if their surface is smooth, they're almost always ok. Rear driveline noise is cumulative, however, so if
replacing them will quiet things down, go for it. U-joints tight? Pinion lash within spec?
t
manuals don't do that.
