Ford tech for about 24 years, Dodge, Jeep, chrysler tech for 8 years, GM tech for about 2 years. And retirement is still so long away!!

I retired after 35 years with at&t then did another 10 years fixing banking machines. Now I'm just re(tired). Also 3years in the navy.

 

I am self employed, have my own shop now.

I have done many things, including an o/o line hauling fuel to stations for years.

Worked in the parts dept. of two different car dealers many years ago.

Started an apprenticeship in automotive, but did not like it, so instead became a mechanic specializing in 2 strokes, and got good at welding and fabbing to.

Now I mostly build highly modified mountain snowmobiles, repair them, and build parts, and snowmobile decks.

Also I work on dirt and street bikes, ATV's, PWC's and such.
Occasionally I do work for good customers on their boats and outboards as well, but do not really like it, so try not to do too much.

I have rebuilt hundreds and hundreds of 2 stroke motors, and I have put a turbo on many, or built specialty and often lightweight parts for sleds.

I grew up around stuff like this as my parents owned a honda dealer when I was younger, and my uncle still owns a yami dealer, and I have 8 cousins that wrench for a living also.

 

Im a senior in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University.

Raced Quads before college, Won one championship. Hopefully start after i get done with school.

My dad had a motorcycle shop growing up so i learned to wrench there and have continued to work on bikes here at college.

Im Vice President of the Iowa State University Motorcycle Club. I ride a 2002 Honda CBR 954RR.


I dont know what else to say. I love fast cars, tough trucks. Getting some air at the local mx track.

i own a managed services company in upstate ny, we do proactive maintenance on our clients computers and networks and can prevent most problems from occurring

 

I am the shop foreman at Sears auto center, have been there 8 years. ASE certified and I service and repair swimming pools.

 

Building transmissions and operating two transmission shops since 1987

 

A good friend of mine does the same thing.

I assumed it was this really cool life, maybe a bit like Magnum had on TV, wit the ferrari and all the babes, gun shoot outs etc.
Ya the life of mystery, excitment, and a thrill a minute.

Without any names or details to tip me off who, he has told me lots about his work, and the drudgery.

It sounds like a job if i had to do it, I would pray for an early death.

So I am curious, what is it like for you.

Service Man for NCR corp, 35 years. Washington state and Alaska. I think I loved every minute of that. I cant recall a single morning I felt like leaving it all behind for something different.
I started fixing old cars as a kid and just never stopped till about now!
I'm impressed with all the talent and experience we have on this board.

Hi im a Performing arts tech. That means I work in a university theatre. I do lights; sound, set carp, rigging, and anything else that needs to get done. I have been doing this here for 9 years and I also freelanced for 20 years touring and working at a local arena as a stage hand. I also work for a local TV network as a freelance sound engineer. That’s it
