I was driving home from town today ( 1986 F250 4X4 6.9l idi, 10 mile drive) and my truck lost everything electrical and shut down ...... sat on the side of the road for 5-10 min and was pulling my hair out as to wtf happened, tried the key again and power was back, fired right up and drove home no probs, Anyone have any ideas as to what my problem could be? I am at a total loss as to what would cause everything to die and then work again

 

I would pull the ignition switch and check that, as they fail they kind of fall apart, it's on top of the column under the dash.

Pull your center trim piece below the column. And drop the two bolts and it'll fall on the seat and is accessible
