2x4 to 4x4

I have a 2007 f150 super crew lariat with the 5.4 Triton. I also have a 1999 f150 super cab 4x4 with a blown 4.6. Both have the same transmission, I was wondering if it would be possible to pull all of the 4x4 components off of the 99 f150 and use them on the 07. And suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Obviously there's no such thing as impossible here, but rather is it worth the trouble. If it were just a matter of swapping driveline components I'd say go for it. But the real problem is the electronic controls, solenoids, and vacuum lines associated with running the 4WD system. All of that would also have to be swapped over. You'd be better off selling both vehicles and buying one that is 4WD.

I already have the wiring run for the 4x4 on the 07, it came from the factory 4x4 but the individual that had it before me converted it to 2x4 when the old transfer case blew. The reason I'm wanting to do the swap is the 07 has an almost brand new motor in it (8,000 miles) and the transmission is being replaced next month with a reman. What do you think would be the hardest part of the transfer?

Well that makes it a lot easier since the bulk of your work is just to swap the t-case back in, add a front driveshaft, and swap rear driveshaft. If all of these parts from the 99 fit then you're in pretty good shape.

There is no usable parts from the 99 to the 07. The transmissions are not the same either. The trucks have completely different frames and front suspension so you can't use the front axle from the 99 in the 2007.

'07 5.4 should have a 4r75w. '99 should have a 4r70w. Pretty similar, but not quite the same.
