Ground cable connection location?

My ground cable is connected right behind the alternator to the block. Can I connect it to ANY bolt on the block?
The lug on the current cable is twice the size of normal, to accomodate the large bolt. I can't find any that size, so would like to put a new cable on a smaller bolt.
Will this work?

Should be no problem....as long as the bolt used provides a good ground, is clean and the terminal lug is tight.......closer to the starter the better..although there shouldnt be much of a difference in resistance....but the less the better for starting

i agree with sparky. also if you replaced all grounds from battery.
i would like to add ground if not already to front frame by headlights or they may dim. double check ground straps from heads to fire wall or you may have interior prob.
most i've seen take ground to main frame then up to block.
just some insight from a stereo guy. be sure to clean to bare metal like sparky said. i didn't know if ya swaped engine or what?

I got a new negative term cable, ran it to another bolt on block and I THINK it solved my problem. I think it was just a bad cable, actually.
