Why does my truck appear to have a camera behind the windshield when I do not have collision detection, lane departure, or any other option that I can think might use it? I need to have windshield replaced and they want to charge for recalibrating it. Does my truck use it??
Taking my KR in tomorrow to get its windshield replaced. When setting up the appointment with Safelite, the fellow asked if my truck was the XL trim (no), then he asked if I had the lane departure option (no). He then went on to other non-truck specific questions until I told him to back up the train. I asked if his questions included rain-sensing wipers and he said no. He was surprised to learn that option uses the camera located between the windshield and rear view mirror. They would've gotten the wrong windshield if I hadn't interjected.
Tell them to replace with the exact same windshield. No re calibration is required if this is the case. Just had windshield done and there is no need to re calibrate these sensors looking through a new clean windshield. I do have the collsion warning, heads up display, auto hi beam, auto wipers. The ACC sensors are below in the bumper and it uses radar, see bumper movement, replacement, different story I believe.
