Piston pin bushing question
Piston pin bushing question
I’ve got a 1949 8BA flathead , the original piston pin bushings have holes in them , I ordered new ones but they don’t have the holes, but do have some crosshatching on the inside of the bushing . My question is, are the two bushings styles interchangeable ?
I’ve looked , and some suppliers sell one or the other and some sell both. But all for a 8BA

By cross-hatching do you mean actual oil grooves in a criss-cross pattern?
I checked over on the Ford Barn, as I haven't run into this. I've never found the upper end bushings appreciably worn. I'd read thru this thread over there before going much further, especially posts #6 & #8:

Do the rods have lubrication holes formed into them at the wrist pin area where a hole in the bushing should align? If memory serves me right, I've seen Ford rods with holes and without holes for wrist pin lubrication. I do not remember what series engines have and what series do not have. I am possibly thinking of and entirely different Ford engine series such as tractors.. I do know you can get some unwanted "peck, peck" but non fatal noises if the pins are loose.
