King pin bushing alternative?

I finally found out why my truck squeals when turning and it's because my king pin bushings are shot. I know that there are bronze replacements and poly replacements but I've heard bronze is much better. However, my friend's dad said we should look into some self adjusting ones. I have never heard of this. I think the brand he said was Stemco Kaiser QwikKit. Has anyone used these before? They look like they're for semi trucks, not pick ups. Thanks.

Sounds like a gimmick. Go bronze.

I would go with the bronze metal type and since it will be disassembled I would recommend changing the I beam pivot bushings a radius arm bushings , you will have most of your front end disassembled anyways

I hadn't even thought about that stuff. Sounds like a good idea though. Here's a link to the ones that he recommended. They sure do seem nice but I've never heard of anyone putting them in their truck.

here is a link to a parts catalog with the application and specific part number. http://www.plazafleetparts.com/uploa...er_catalog.pdf

No, I just had mine apart. or at least one side and it was in perfect shape. I will be replacing them when I do a full front end rebuild this winter, but mostly just because they are 40 years old and I will have it apart. Not sure this is worth the extra money, unless you plan on putting 100k mile or more a year on your truck.

I just used a set with bronze bushings on my F350. Make sure to eliminate the up down play with shims on the upper side and have the bushings reamed at a machine shop. There are roller bearing kingpins out there, but while they are reported to help with steering effort on non power steering setups, there are downsides such as possible galling.
