Step up transformer

I recently bought an instrument cluster for my 1950 F-1 with a 239, it turns out that it is set up for 12 volts. I am asking if I can get a step-up transformer to take the 6 volts up to 12 volts to run just the oil, temperature and voltage gauges.

Yes. This unit will simulate a Buck 'n Boost xformer. The ammeter is a moot point because it doesn't measure voltage. So you just need enough for the fuel, oil pressure, and temperature gauges.

That appears to be a step down device

Nope - step up. If I understood Ynot correctly, he has a 6 volt truck and a 12 volt instrument cluster.

I have a stock 6V system and have a DC-DC converter to step up my voltage for a back-up camera that requires 12V. The unit I have for the job is a DIGITEN 05111210L. Sadly, I don't have my system installed yet, so I can't speak to how well it works.

DIGITEN step-up converters are available on Amazon. They cost just under $30 and are advertised to deliver 12V at 10 amps from a 6V source.

Thank you, I thought I had misstated the matter. I am looking for a STEP UP device to take 6 volt up to 12 volt to run the gauges

Here is a 6 volt positive ground to 12 volt converter that should work.

Timely thread I was going to order one of the 3 gauge (pressure, temp and volts) for my 55 but was wondering about the 6v positive ground and all of them said for 12V neg ground vehicle in the description. Question though, all the volt gauges I find go from 8 to 16 Volts, not much help on a 6V system. Do them make one that goes down to 6 volts? I haven't been able to find it. Thanks hooler1 for that link.

Afaik, Stewart Warner and VDO were the last ones to make automotive 6 volt voltmeters, and they ceased production of them some time ago. You could get lucky at a swap meet though. The only ones available now (new) are for Model T's, but they look pretty nice.

Thanks Bob, That pretty much confirms what I was finding...nothing lol. That one you linked to is great though. Classic old analog look! I think I'm just going to go with a two gauge (oil & water) set up had overlooked them earlier while I was searching for one with a 6V gauge.
