This is why I always go with a XL, you get what you need and none of bs that constantly has issues. I pay for the fancy unnecessary bs on my wife's cars lol
I suggest steering FAR clear of that POS Aisin transmission. There is a known issue in the Rams where it creates a "drone noise" at 2k RPM. There's a TSB for it and everything. Even with the TSB, Chrysler denies it's a defect but for how loud the noise is when towing, it's a defect. It's specific to the Aisin transmission. Additionally, when I look at the 68RFE compared to the Aisin, and now the Torqshift, both transmissions on the Ram are programmed by the same people, so they have many of the same issues. I traded in my '16 Ram because of the Aisin. That was after having a '13 for 3 years with the 68RFE. Chrysler's refusal to address the problem led me to Ford. If you're going to go to a Ram, the Aisin isn't all that awesome, the the 68RFE is so weak that it can't handle above 800 lb ft torque. $2700 upgrade... not worth it.
I will admit I don't know how loud it actually is, but I always find it funny when people complain about any kind of drive-train/road noise on new trucks and how annoying and bothersome it is. I always invite them to come drive my 95 Dodge 2500 with the 12 valve. Talk about noisy! In fact it was parked next to a new 6.7 Ram yesterday and I couldn't even tell the Ram was running until I got about half way past the bed and heard a SLIGHT engine noise.

~85dB peak inside. Had legal counsel involved. Purchased sound measuring equipment to show it was a problem. Came from an identical 2013 Ram 2500 that didn't have the Aisin that was whisper quiet through the entire RPM range for 36k problem-free miles. It was specifically at exactly 2k RPM. Also, at highway speed there was a noticeable noise like unbalanced tires at exactly 2k RPM. Downshift to 5th, and the noise would disappear. Literally every single person who rode in that truck asked me why it was so loud. Even my wife noticed it the first time we rode in the truck when it had just a couple hundred miles on it. I also owned a 1995 Ram w/12v Cummins. It was whisper quiet compared to the Ram with Aisin. Sure, the 12v is loud, but that's clickety clackety diesel stuff you expect, not high frequency vibrations that make you want to punch someone. Lots of people have the problem. Numerous people who easily had them bought back in CA, labeled as a lemon. I just didn't push hard enough in the first year to try and get it claimed as a lemon. Thus, I now own a Ford. It's also whisper quiet through the entire RPM range, like my '13 Ram was.
Well I thought everybody knew that the moonroof is just to look through not to open. Sorry you are just learning this--I learned on my last Ford Truck. Mine now was only opened during the obligatory demo and setting up the Sync. Otherwise never on mine.
Sorry you are having trouble!
I guess more proof I'm an odd Duck. I open mine all the time without any problems.
...so you came on here to have fellow members convince you to stay with ford or help you move to another brand? i can't see the logic behind asking nameless/faceless people online to convince you on something this important. Or you came on here to vent and are expecting a hug or something?
No hug needed or wanted! Just wondering if others are having similar problems. Most reply’s were nice except for you and another smartass!

To be fair, stating that your vehicle is falling apart and asking for thoughts on trading to another manufacturer is not the same as looking for input from others on similar concerns.

I appreciate your opinion but disagree. If others are experiencing the same problems and my warranty is out, nothing is wrong with considering a manufacturer change. Just wanted opinions, not criticism. Last time that I will ask another question on this forum.

Not really a matter of opinion, so not sure what you are disagreeing with. Your first post literally asked for thoughts about trading to Chevy as a response to well-documented issues that have shown up before. You have to know how well that would go over. You never asked for input from others on similar problems. If you did, you might have received better quality responses.
FWIW the front camera on ours went out at 31K miles. It worked but was too hazy to be usable. Was replaced under warranty. Don't have a sunroof to fail, and don't have an electric tailgate to open by itself. So far the leather seats have not unzipped.
I vent mine too...but it still broke again last week, now its back to the dealer we go
I read about doing this but my neighbor down the street has a 17 model and his broke as well and he always as he said "cracked it open" first. When I get my 2020 I am going to try real hard to find one without but most dealers order the Platinum, KR hard loaded around here in the DFW area. Why Ford has not addressed this problem is beyond me. My service guy told me it happens regularly.
I don't have the front camera, opening tailgate, or sunroof. It's just a Lariat with leather interior. While cleaning out the back seat the other day, I found that the rear seat frame had a fair amount of surface rust from what appeared to be an unpainted section. No biggie, I'm in the middle of working on my shop, then I'll pull out the rear seat, clean the frame, and paint it. I tend to fix things as I go. Buying another truck is still a gamble. Anything can break. At least when I fix things on my truck I know what I've done.
As far as your post, I get your frustration but being on a Ford forum and saying you're thinking about going to another company will be met with harsh criticism. Happens to everyone I've even seen post that way. Me, I don't care for GM anything and I'd rather fix my Ford. That's what I think. Good luck to you.
If you choose to fix everything, please keep us posted and maybe someone else having a similar experience will be able to learn from yours.
