I have a 2017 6.2. My brother in law just picked up a used 2017 6.7 crew cab. Can you guys help me out with any known issues with the trucks? He's not a forum guy so I thought I would just do some information gathering and give him the heads up. Here's what I got so far.... and maybe this is everything not sure.
1. frozen door handles (he'll need to check if the recall was done)
2. leaking batteries
3. leaking sunroof
4. block heater recall
5. electrical connection corrosion near spare tire
Anything else you know of would be great thanks. BTW I am asking for known issues that happened to many people not 1 off problems thx
If the truck hasn't already been in for the block heater recall, I wouldn't take it in at this time. Wait until Ford has a real solution. Don't use the cord in the meantime. I thought they were still working through the issues with the frozen doors also.
I injected dielectric grease into the connectors on the underside of the truck. I've had no problems. However, I did it early on. If the truck already has corrosion in the connectors, all the grease in the world may not help and Ford will have to replace the connectors on their dime.
Make sure when he opens the sunroof that he tilts it up first, to break the seal, before sliding it back. This is very important and why the slide brackets break, or bend. The seal is very sticky and I believe this is why there can be problems. Also, either open/close atleast the tilt up often, or don't use it at all without using the tilt up first.
If he has the chrome PVD wheels, make sure the chrome isn't flaking and that he has the tires off before the warrenty is up.
If chrome running boards inspect carefully for bubbling of the chrome between the foot step pads, check chrome tow hooks for rust at the bolts, check batteries, battery brackets and clamps and clean, and put corrosion protectant on frequently.
I think that was only for the new transmission on the F-250 6.2L gas version.
No that was for the diesel. Mine was not leaking at the start so they did not want to replace them but leaked later and they had to replace all the clutch packs as well as the lines
