So I just got done talking to my audio guru about some audio upgrades for the truck. In talking with him I brought up I have a set of the replacement lights from Recon. He and his master installer were adamant that I should not install them because of leaking problems with the new cab design. My buddy who has a new truck had a massive leak after he installed his even with the addition of silicone around the holes. I was told it was pouring out of his overhead console and even got the SYNC 3 head unit. So hes going back to stock and now has to deal with the remaining issues from the leak.
Has anyone else seen, heard or had this happen to them? I've got a set sitting on my kitchen table that I want to do something with.
Jeesh. If someone can’t do it right, DO IT YOURSELF, right? If someone installed them and they leak with silicone, they did it wrong. Frankly, if you don’t have them, and the hairs on your neck and other parts stands up when you drill holes in your cab, get the Cab Over America lights discussed on this board. No holes, no leaks. Just a fumble or two with a fob, which I’m sure they’ll resolve soon.
My buddy and I installed a set on my 04 that didnt have them to begin with and never had an issue. I'm slightly under the weather recovering from minor knee surgery so I cant really climb up on the truck to try them out right now. Might see if a different friend is up to helping.
So I went to give this a shot last night but it looks like the foam has adhesive on both sides, on the light and to the cab. What's the best way to get that off the cab side with out destroying the foam?
